-Apple released a new iPad 2 television commercial which carries the same tone as the We Believe commercial released in early April.
-The growth of iOS has been equally remarkable. Despite the fact that Windows earned twice as much as the Mac earned, OS X and iOS combined enabled 3.5 times the profit of Windows. With the success that Apple recently enjoyed in overtaking Microsoft in terms of overall profit this news of the profit generation isn’t shocking, but it is very interesting to see how Apple’s ability to remain agile is helping it to quickly outpace its old nemesis.
-Apple has reportedly hired Tomlinson Holman as its new audio chief, according to Leo Laporte Wednesday morning. Laporte said he had it "on good authority" that Holman "is joining Apple to run audio." Holman is the brain behind Lucasfilm's THX sound, and the world's first 10.2 surround sound system. Apple had yet to respond to a request for confirmation as of this writing.
-Apple has released an iOS 4.3.3 (4.2.8 for CDMA) software update which resolves issues with location logging.
This update contains changes to the iOS crowd-sourced location database cache including:
- Reduces the size of the cache
- No longer backs the cache up to iTunes
- Deletes the cache entirely when Location Services is turned off
-Playboy will be available on iPad, complete & uncensored, on May 18.
