One of the leading providers of PC antivirus software, McAfee, has recently released a new app for iOS users. The new McAfee WaveSecure app helps users protect their privacy and data in case their iPhone is lost or stolen.
Priced at $19.99, the app allows users to back up contacts, photos, and videos while tracking their iPhone’s current location.
If your iPhone is lost, the app will wirelessly restore your data to a new iDevice and/or an Android-based handset.
According to Lianne Caetano, director of product marketing for McAfee consumer mobile solutions, via an interview with VentureBeat:
“We’ve been in mobile security for about 10 years, but we’re in a period of rapid changes now. Now we have a very heterogenous environment, and we have to make sure we work seamlessly.”
While McAfee’s offerings are admirable, Apple, through its iCloud service, will soon be offering a similar solution for free. In fact, the company’s Find My iPhone solution has been available for quite a while now.
Still, for those that are interested, McAfee WaveSecure is available now in the App Store.
